Subject: The Scavenger Hunt, July 18th and 19th
Our Scavenger Hunt has become an annual and eagerly anticipated tradition at the Cooper River Yacht Club. This year it will be held on July 18 and 19. The location has yet to be decided - but it will definitely be under cover.
The weekend's fun starts on Friday evening with a potluck supper during which we register our boats. The list of questions is distributed to all concerned. Registration per boat is $45 which includes the Captain's reception and Pig Roast (Captain and one guest). Additional guests for the Pig roast are only $17.50 / guest.
Prizes are mainly provided by our local sponsors who have been extremely generous in the past. They are awarded to those boats with the most correct answers. The questions may be a bit tricky but this will be decided by Scott Bartley who has nobly volunteered to run the event - hats off to Scott!
The questions are designed so that one has to get out on the boat and travel around the harbor in search of clues. Whatever form the questions take, it will be a lot of fun and everybody will come out a winner because it is hard to beat a fun day on the water followed by one of the Low Country's best Pig Roasts.
This year we will donate all of the profits to a local charity of our choice. One that comes to mind is the local Community Sailing organization which provides opportunities for young people to learn about sailing and, more importantly, good seamanship. This makes everybody a winner – including of course our sponsors, since the ultimate goal is to encourage more people to take up sailing as a lifelong sport.
It’s also a great time for prospective CRYC members to join the club and the fun!
I look forward to seeing you on the water.
