Commodore's Corner

Welcome to all Members and their spouses to another fun-filled year at the Cooper River Yacht Club. We got off to a great start when we had the Oyster Roast at the Power Squadron in spite of the rain, it's amazing what we did with some tarps and a small picnic tent. Reg Brown served up the oysters and Brian Hill provided hamburgers on a Weber - we even made a bit of money so we have more in the kitty for future parties.

We encourage you all to access our website at www.cooperriveryachtclub.org where you will see what is going on and what events are coming due in the next 2-3 months so you can put these on your calendars. Elsewhere in this news letter you will find a summary of the upcoming meetings - please note that we have had to move the meetings in both April and May because of conflicts with other events in the area so both of these meetings will now be the 2nd Saturdays in April and May.

In the next week or so we will be announcing the upcoming cruises which will of course be posted on the web site. Barb Rohrer has some great venues in mind and if any of you know of a nice place to spend a night "on the hook" please let Barb know so she can incorporate it into our schedule.

The food theme for the next meeting at the Power Squadron Saturday Feb.16th will be Italian so all you cooks out there please let your imagination fly and Thinko Italiano!!

We have not yet got a speaker for the February meeting but we are working on it - we will try to have a boating safety-oriented speaker to kick off the boating febseason on the right foot so-to-speak. One can never be too careful and a moment's planning can help stave off disaster.

I look forward in getting to know you all and to learn what type of activities you would like us to plan, so please feel free to offer your comments etc.

Happy Boating .......... Brian Hill - Commodore CRYC

was curious if there was a list of boats for sale at the marina. I'm in the market, but don't live in Charleston, but do get down there couple times a month. Thanks.--Steve
