Commodore’s Corner

Here we are at another quarter.   I heard everyone had a great time at Morgan Creek Grill?  I am sorry I missed it.  I was at another banquet for another boating club.  Thanks Vice Commodore Jim Beach for assisting me in the meeting.  There are always so many things to do in the Charleston area.  Be sure to tell Rear Commodore Jean-Marc that you enjoyed the meeting and the cruises.  Jean-Marc you are doing a great job.  I put out some info at the board meeting that we are looking for a secretary and membership chair person.  Please call me if you have and idea.    The club had a very successful cruise over Labor Day.

Thank you notes were sent out to all our sponsors for the scavenger hunt.  Be sure to tell them thanks.

Be sure to welcome our new members.  We have new boating crews joining all the time.                                                                       Thanks to all the members who help out with all the boating functions, you all do a good job.   Look forward to seeing all of you.

Thanks.

 Tony

Cruising corner

Well so far we had a very successful cruising season.  After a wonderful Memorial Day week end in Dataw we had the chance to relax and have a good pot luck.

We started the summer season with a cruise to Georgetown and Wacca Wache marina for Independence Day. 3 boats were at the meeting.

In early July we also had a Crew overboard drill in July where Reg Brown gave us all kind of good hints about the different techniques involved in preventing such situation and recovery methods.

We closed the Summer season with the labor Day Cruise to Beaufort.  We had a total of 6 boats.  We enjoyed a very nice sail down to Beaufort with a NE wind allowing the sailors to take advantage of the outside route.  We all met in Beaufort on Saturday afternoon and had a fun fill dinner at the local restaurant.  Sunday we departed and most of us took a leisurely pass back home and anchored along the way. This was also a great ride except for the Stronger NE wind.  Some others, to limit the spread of ill intentioned rumors, decided to push it all the way in one day.

The season is not over yet.  You will not want to miss the Moise Island cruise on October 1 and 2 where we will have the pleasure to share tall stories around the camp fire.  Have your boat and your log ready.

We hope to see you all.

Thanks

Jean-Marc Zanni

REMINDER about Potluck Dinners…

The Potluck Dinners continue at 6 p.m. on the third Saturday of every month at various locations.  An E-mail is sent to all current members (having Internet accessibility) just prior to each dinner to announce the location.

Remember to bring your own main course and one side dish or dessert to share.  Join in the feasting (there is always an abundance of food) and great conversation and fun to be had.

So come and fill up on the tasty goodies others bring to share (the wide variety is amazing), as well as catch up on what has been going on with everyone since the last Potluck.

Polly Lanz has fallen and shattered her shoulder while in Mackinaw City, MI.
