COOPER RIVER YACHT CLUB September, 2004
P.O. BOX 70893 North Charleston, SC 29415
Commodore’s Corner:
We have had a great year so far. The Scavenger Hunt was a big success, thanks to the efforts of the cook, the Hunt coordinators, the Social Committee, and especially the prize solicitors who found enough gifts for everyone who attended. We also made some money, which will be put to good use on or before the XMAS Party. For example, we sponsored the Dogs, Burgers & Brats at our July All-American Cook Out at Buzzards Roost. There will be enough for another future gathering.
The turnout for our Independence Week cruise was poor, possibly because of the distance to Port Royal from Charleston on a short holiday weekend. We’re looking at closer locations for next year.
We have a CRYC Board meeting at 5 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month at the designated PotLuck Dinner location. All members are welcome to attend.
CRYC is always looking for new members who want to play along with us. Please extend invitations to your boating friends and encourage them to join us.
We still have our Oyster Roast and Chili Cook Off coming up in the Fall. See you there.
Jack

REMINDER about Potluck Dinners…
The CRYC continues to have its Potluck Dinners on the third Saturday of every month. If you haven’t yet attended one, you should. You are missing out on a really good time. Just bring your own main course and one side or dessert to share. Join in the feasting (there is always an abundance of food) and great conversation.
The location varies, but the potluck dinner starts around 6 p.m. E-mail is sent to all current members just prior to each dinner to announce the location. So come and fill up on the tasty goodies others bring to share (the wide variety is amazing), as well as catch up on what has been going on with everyone since the last Potluck.
Congrats! Get Wells! Sympathy’s

Important Tidbits and Updates!
¨ Volunteers are needed for the October 16 Oyster Roast to help pick a neat place and have a party. Contact Jack Navin @ 843-884-8617.
¨ CRYC has ordered monogrammed hats through Show Off, which can be purchased at the September 18th Quarterly meeting.
¨ Show Off in Patriot’s Plaza in Mt. Pleasant and Nautical Specialties on E. Bay Street have our Club Logos on file and will affix them to any apparel that you provide to them.
¨ Anna Knight and Ger Warren of Cosmos Mariner have been cruising the ICW and are currently enjoying the Chesapeake. They are planning to return to Charleston in time for the Thanksgiving holidays.
¨ Word has it that Stu Yuill has come back to Charleston to teach again at the Citidel. Welcome back, Stu! Since he and Nancy still have Blue Mimi (moored at Buzzards Roost) on the market (does anyone want to buy a super sailboat?), he will be staying there while Nancy holds up the fort in Annapolis until the winter months, when she will once again join him in Charleston.
¨ This year’s Charleston Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Cup Race is scheduled for September 25. Last year Shazaam! took 3rd place in the raising of funds for this worthy cause. If there are any boats entered in this event whose owners are members of the CRYC, please let Reg Brown (843-693-3331) or Pat Morosky (704-847-0380) know as soon as possible. They and several other CRYC members will be collecting donations once again and are looking for a boat entered in the racing event to which their collections can be credited.
